It's a great local restaurant with good food! I have driven past Harry's many years but never have ventured in. From the outside it looks like nothing special; the main inside dining room is small and older but the walls are filled with Florida history, with a great old feel. They have a huge outdoor seating area decorated with humorous signs with an island tiki atmosphere. I had a lunch special which was a cobia sandwich with curly fries. The fish and bun were fresh and along with the curly fries made it a very good meal! For dessert, they had all homemade pies; my party had strawberry shortcake, orange pie, and a peanut butter pie. All were really good and tasted homemade. One thing however, the staff seemed stretched thin, I counted 2 or 3 waitresses serving the whole outdoor seating area and bar. Service was a little slow, glad I was not in a hurry but overall a great place to eat.

Harry's is permanently on our list of eateries to visit when we stay with friends in the Stuart/Jupiter area. Consequently, we've eaten at Harry's a number of times. We love the wacky factor, the local flavor and friendly, energetic wait staff. Yesterday we arrived late morning just as the place was clearing out. We took a seat at the back of the restaurant, inside back by the bar. We were descended upon by three employees, all eager to make sure the table was ready, take our order, and bring coffee. I ordered the Surf's Up Breakfast Wrap with egg, sausage and cheese and a side of grits. All the food that was ordered came at the same time (nice). My wrap was large, hot and tasty. The grits, however, were almost room temperature. I thought about sending them back for a microwave warm-up but refrained. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their orders. Since I've visited Harry's a number of times, I've had many items on the menu. The weekend specials are the best and I highly recommend the Banana Foster's French Toast. The homemade corned beef hash is a treat, and the bisquits and gravy is flavorful and filling. I'm a little sorry to see that the outside gift shop has been eliminated in favor of a bar. The shop had hard-to-find "tourist" wear (beach style stuff). However, the new bar looks nice and I noticed that all the patio seating was of the very comfy, wicker-style furniture. Jupiter Artist Dan Mackin, responsible for many of the building painting in the area, has art on the walls -- most of it for sale. His prints are perfect time capsules of Florida as we'd like to remember it.

Fun place. Had a great breakfast. Inside and outside dinning. Friendly staff, good food and prices.

Low priced, mediocre food. Northern tourists probably think it's cool with all the goofy signs, etc.. Much better breakfast places in Hobe Sound than this place.

Great breakfast and lunch spot. Decent dinner menu. Friendly service, comfortable atmosphere. They often have live music on the weekends. My wife and I enjoy the old Florida charm of this place, and oftem take guests there for a casual meal.
(4)Lynn H.
One of my favorite breakfast spots - especially the coconut pancakes! Great place to hang out with friends.

Well first off it is so nice to sit in to a place that shows Fox News. This is the most conservative restaurants I have ever been into. I love the Obama omelette. And all the pun intended on the menus. This is a family owned business. Who has a concern for the pulse of our country in the direction that it's heading and they are not afraid to show that. I'm sure the IRS audits them every single year. They could probably be comparable to a tea party group. , my favorite is the spinach egg Benedict with a side of bacon. And by the way they have some pretty good coffee too.

Terrif food and atmosphere! Real old Florida casual atmosphere. Don't tell the tourists!!

A solid bit of south Florida culture for over 50 years. Once known as a gas station, then as a breakfast & lunch joint and now serving breakfast, lunch and dinners, with a full liquor license, Harry has been a Hobe Sound staple for over 50 years. (And I've been darkening their door for over 35 of those years). Sticking to mostly traditional "American" favorites, Harry's is a solid performer any time they are open. With a very laid back staff and off beat decor that meld together perfectly with their quirky menu descriptions. There is no pretension here, Harry's is the ultimate in WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) dining. Service is always comfortable. Never pushy, always helpful (try asking for "monkey faced pancakes" for diners under 7) that used to be a staple here ! Hopefully, I'll still be a customer in another 35 years.

I can't understand all of the great reviews:-/ I loved this place 3 years ago but something hapened and the food is not as fresh and good as it was. Every time I gave this place a chance hoping their service got better and had to stop, every time disappointed. I hope thei read this review and bring back the quality they had few years ago.

Unique restaurant. Food is usually good. The daily specials are a good bet. My granddaughter loves the kids macaroni with fresh fruit. My husband loves the cucumber salad. Now they have a full liquor bar but the drinks are very pricey.

I have lived near Harry & The Natives now for 7 years and they are the favorite for breakfast anytime friends or family is in town. Fun ambiance and great service.

visited family in the area and they took us here because they said it is "the local place to go" The food was good, the drinks were good, the price was good. We went a few times during our stay and it was always busy. The live music at night was a good touch. The staff was friendly. It seemed like a nice local place to hang out, the only thing that is keeping me from the fourth star is that it isn't really a spot I would recommend for my age group (under 25). Mostly an older crowd both times I visited.

After about a million recommendations to come here, my family finally stopped in for breakfast this past Sunday. We arrived pretty late at about 11:45am and most people were finishing up, so we had no problem getting a table for 6. The place is so cute and has some hilarious signs all over the walls and ceilings. I had the surfer girl (egg whites, spinach, mushroom, cheese omelette) and it was delicious. My father in law had the bananas fosters french toast and was kind enough to let me try... it was divine! My mother in law loved the coconut pancakes (they were huge), and my parents enjoyed the quiche of the day and eggs benedict. This is a fabulous little place in the heart of Hobe Sound and I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are passing through or nearby. I hear their lunch and dinner are great too, so we will have venture up there again on a non-Sunday!

On Oct 16 2014 I visted Harry's with my mother and Aunt. This place was always a place to bring out of town visitors. The food and service were always top notch and the atmosphere is fun. Unfortunately I can not say that now! We each had ice tea and I got the chicken tenders, which were always my favorite. My mom and Aunt got the Native hotdog. When the food came, and we started to eat I found my tenders were hard and salty! Not the same as I alway liked and my fries looked like they were from the day before. The hotdog were just hotdogs, nothing special. The waitress came I told her the tenders were not good and she seemed like she could have cared less, just shrugged her shoulders. It seemed that the waitresses were more worried about "folding" the silverware than minding the patrons. When she came to see if we wanted anything I told her no and again how I couldn't eat the meal I got. She just said "you're the first to say something " and took our plates. When she brought the check she told me the took half off my meal! Really, I ate one rock hard tender. When we paid the bill I told the fellow at the register and he just said he'd have check on the cooks and that was it! So sad to see this place go down in service and food.

Good food for a casual hamburger-type place with soups, wraps, salads, etc. Just what you would expect. The wait staff was very pleasant and there seems to be a regular crowd. They must be doing something right! We were greeted at the door by a woman who was about 80 years old or older. Very welcoming, like going to grandma's. There is a large outdoor seating area. I had the grilled grouper sandwich, since I'm not really a big fan of hamburgers, and it was delicious and properly grilled. Cole slaw was fresh and tasty. I will definitely return when I want this type of quick and casual meal.
(4)Alyssa P.
Had a basic meal of eggs, bacon, and toast but meal was good and reasonably priced. Servers weren't terribly friendly, but the place was Really neat.
(4)Darby G.
Just stopped in for lunch. Visit Harry every few weeks for lunch or breakfast. Never disappointed. Had the Tex Mex Wrap and a piece of orange pie to finish it off. yummy!! Nothing bad to say and always fun to sit back, relax and read the signs all over the walls.

*Good Breakfast *Amazing Service *Fun Atmosphere I ate at Harry and the Natives this past Sunday and I will definitely be back. It was around 10:30 am on Sunday and there must have been at least 20 people waiting outside to be sat. I didn't realize this place was so popular..... Thankfully we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table outside. While we waited we went out back to check out the gift store. If I wasn't a Floridian I might have found it interesting but it's just your typical touristy nick-nacks and tchotchkes. Good way to kill time though :) Outside dining area is fantastic because they have enough fans to keep the air moving and it is covered so there is no direct sun hitting you. They also have a full bar out back and as I was looking around I noticed a lot of people at the bar drinking huge Mimosas and decent looking Bloody Mary's. I had one of the Bloody Mary's and it was good. Not great but I enjoyed it. I like my Bloody Mary's spicy and with a little more horseradish and a celery for garnish which this one was lacking but all in all it was ok. Our server was friendly and fast. We never had to ask for a refill on coffee or soda( which is fountain!) and when we needed the check she was back in a split second to pick it up. I also really appreciate that all the staff seemed to be a team and constantly made the rounds to make sure all the customers had what they needed. We all enjoyed our breakfast and were satisfied with our choices. I had the spinach, cheddar and ham quiche with home fries. The crust was buttery and flaky. I made everyone try it and the vote was A+ by all. I tried my husbands Belgium waffles and those were really good as well. I liked that they were soft in the middle unlike most places who serve them hard. I saw a lot of people ordering the sweet potato waffles with I think pecans on top which looked delish. Next time I have to try that. If you looking for a kitchy and fun breakfast spot with great people watching this is the place to be on a Sunday morning.

Alway great ! I love all the food but the crusted chicken not such a large portion. Great orange pie call ahead to hold piece , there always out.
(5)Arly S.
We had the corn beach hash special and it was delicious!!! Service was excellent as well :)) We will be making a lot more weekend trips to Stewart just to have breakfast here!!! Love it.
(5)David S.
Passable food for a backwoods truck stop. Service was so bad that the next table of customers walked out. We waited for about two hours to get our food which was not organize correctly- the potato was on the wrong plate etc. The food was presented poorly and had no artistry. The bang bang shrimp were very good but the conch fritters tasted like falafels and not like conch. The broiled seafood dinner had dried out dolfin which needed to be eaten while sipping water die to how dry it was. The crabcake was ok but we had tobask repeatedly for the garnishes such as tarter sauce, etc. the famous "orange" pie mentioned by a previous reviewed tasted more like a fifty fifty ice cream bar. Of the four of us who tasted it, 2 of us could not tell it was orange. I mentined it to the owner and suggested he try to add some orange marmalaide as an experiment and was told to go make my own pie since his was so good. No chance here for change and improvement unless they fire the old man and hire new management.

I've been coming here for years when I visit my family. It seems every year they add and this year was no different. The gift shop is now a bar and the bathrooms are much closer. There's still a gift shop, but I always hope to find unique treasures and not just the usual shore trinkets found everywhere. All in all, that was my only complaint. The food was delicious and affordable. The service was good and prompt.
(5)Steve T.
When they have music this is a good bet. I think the food is just alright but I must be in the minority because it stays busy. I've had the burger and a few lunches all OK.
(3)Walter H.
Dropping in on a Friday afternoon just before 3pm was ideal, happy hour for drinks, practically empty so we had the waitress' full attention for prompt friendly service. Humorous, funky decor and solid, good sized portions. We had the Mahi reuben, blackened Mahi and a lobster roll that were all excellent. Would go back without a second thought, give it a try if you are in the area.
(4)Larry D.
Went for Sunday breakfast with a motorcycle riding group - mediocre food, very crowded and the person seating didn't want to accommodate seating our group - had to squeeze 10 people in a table set for 8. Food was below-average - have had better at a Waffle House, and they had the gall to want to charge $1.50 extra for about an ounce of maple syrup. The server was very accommodating, and was the only reason that my review wasn't one star. Also need to not include political proselytizing in their menu - snarky comments about President Obama have no place in a business that is supposed to serve all customers and make them feel welcome.
(2)Ken W.
I have never been to a place in Florida that had service as bad as here. I hope it was a fluke. The food was ok service was terrible.
(1)Simone W.
Great place to eat on a Friday night. Had the mahi mahi reuben sandwich. Sounds really weird but it is delish! Laid back atmosphere, great food and friendly service. Maybe next time I'll be brave enough to try the gator burger :)
(4)Real D.
Harry's is a Hobe Sound Institution you have to be crazy to go the hole town is a hole in the wall for that matter the whole area. Food is bad and the family is like the whites of west virginia I mean really colorful whats that another way of saying inbred the cops all eat lovely I want to share my meal with a bunch of martin counties nutball nazi cops great .

Perhaps my all time favorite spot to grab breakfast, lunch, dinner, or good old fashioned tourist humor. The funny signs, the history behind the many objects, newspaper clippings, paintings, and pictures really sum Hobe Sound's simple history. One of the first establishments to pop up in our small corner of southeast Florida, it started off as a motel, then a gas station, then eventually under the guiding hand of Harry himself it became the eclectic and homey restaurant you see today. The pancakes are heavenly, my favorite of all time. The lunch sandwiches are great, the fries a fitting accompaniment, and the dinner options like steak or fish are well prepared and delicious. Harry has good entertainment that comes Wednesdays and Saturday nights, so be sure to come for good food and live entertainment then too. Great place to take your family and enjoy good homestyle dishes in an old Florida setting.

I used to come here for breakfast frequently and it was always good. They got a liquor license and I was excited to check out the bar. Unfortunately the bartender (the same older guy both times I went) does not know how to make a good drink and was very rude when put to task. I'll try it again only if they get a better bartender.
(3)Joe W.
We had the smoked fish dip as an appetizer. I had the blackened tuna, my wife had a burger. She had the key lime pie and I had the orange pie. Everything was delicious, service was fast and attentive, and the atmosphere was one-of-a-kind. Can't wait to go back!

Very cool Mom-n-Pop eatery right on Dixie in the heart of Hobe Sound. Harry's is the real deal. Small little diner with plenty of character and good eats. The dining area is kind of small but they have stools at the bar. There's also a patio out back but that was reserved for some kind of party on the night we were there. Cool smart-ass wooden signage lines the walls. Service was quick and friendly and the food arrived right after we got done with our appetizers. Varied menu and they have daily specials but their grilled fish is melt-in-your-mouth delicious if a little undercooked but that may be just me. Great prices for what you get and props to our server Michelle! She was awesome!
(4)Bethann J.
Great casual food. I had the crunchy fish wrap and it was delicious. Good prices. Fun atmosphere. Decent service for our large group.
(4)Tim H.
This is a 3 star for the food and a 4 star for the friendly service and signs all over the walls. You most likely would not stop here unless a local told you to but then if you cruise parking lots and see they are full of local tags that's what you will find at Harry and the Natives. Sunday Breakfast is a must. Get the Blueberry pancakes (5 star). Fun, local good food casual and you will LYAO reading all the signs on the walls. Has inside seating and a large covered outdoor patio. Has entertainment on special occasions and sponsored and held the National Day of Prayer in the parking lot with well over 100 people. (A lot for a small town). Family owned. 92 year old mother started the restaurant in early 1950s and can still be seen there but her son now runs it. On US Highway One and Bridge Road in Hobe Sound Florida

I love this place, for nothing more than the great atmosphere you experience. Breakfasts start at 7AM ( earlier when they can't sleep) The prices are super reasonable.... "We aim to cheat the other fella and pass the savings on to you" The breakfasts are substantial, though I have not quite got the courage to do "Gator Hash" ( people tell me it is great). I do not have the money to do the $1,000,000,000 George Bush Omlette ( with profits going to the Palm Beach Election Supervisor to by more butterfly ballots, voting machines and incompetent help) So I stuck with the Smiling Jack Omlette and smiled all the way through the spicey sausage, eggs, peppers and onions covered with melted Provolone .... Oh baby !!! Coconut pancakes are another top choice. Harry has a great gift shop with some astounding tee shirts - my favorite is the US weather forecast. You will love it when you see it as well. Lunch sandwiches are great .... from the Ruben on Rye to the 12 0z.. burger. Can't beat them - just good old down home flavor. A "favorite" on the lunch menu is the Divorce Sandwich.... ( two pieces of bread - she gets all the rest ) They have started doing dinner from 5 to 8(ish) ... or "until the cooks get tired of cooking" ..... you have to love the humor of this place. Harry's just makes you feel good. My parents spend the winter nearby and Harry's is a must stop each time I am here. I laugh all the way through the meal. Good people - great atmosphere .... it is what going out to eat is all about.
(4)tech K.
Harry and the Natives, or "Harry's" as its called in town, is a joint in the best definition of the term. The MacArthur family has owned/run this place since at least the 40's I'm guessing, in various configurations of gas station/bar, gas station/restaurant, and the present config - restaurant. Good solid food at a great price, Harry's is worth the visit. If you're looking for "character", see this place and/or ask for Harry - one visit and you'll see this place and this town have a sense of humor, and Harry and Harry's are part of it!
(5)Adam F.
My partner in crime and I ventured north to this popular spot. Classic breakfast fare. Very large dining area outside. Very eclectic and funky. The food was good and the wait staff was very nice and friendly. A good solid place to get a good breakfast.
(4)Troy B.
Great breakfast ! Place is always busy and full of locals. Pancakes are excellent, fresh home style red potatoes, excellent benedicts. Try it all.... courteous, kind and efficient service. Down home cooking, no frills.
(5)Mark O.
Old Florida. Honky tonk atmosphere. Patio dining. Friendly waitresses. Great American breakfast. Surfer girl omlett and bacon side.
(5)Sharon O.
Harry & the Natives was cute. The atmosphere is not lacking for cuteness. The food experience we recently had though was disappointing. I ordered a hamburger, medium, and it was cooked all the way through, had no flavor to it what so ever. My husband ordered fish, said it was just OK. We'll give it another try for breakfast though after hearing the reviews for that! Prices were very reasonable and the outside dining was nice. Wish you could bring a dog along to that area! Anyone know of some dog friendly outside dining areas around here?
(2)Shep G.
This place ROCKS! Harry and the Natives have been here for ever and they have the best breakfast for 100 miles. Great people, tons of character (and characters!). They are now doing dinner too, the fresh fish is always good...weekends are crowded here, everyone stops at this place. Bikers, Golfers, fishermen, etc. "We cheat the other guy and pass the savings on to YOU!"
(5)Kyle H.
Those who know Hobe Sound best eat at Harry's. Consistently good food and service. Great for lunch and breakfast.
